Recruitment After a Long Gap

The state has not conducted a Food Safety Officer recruitment for nearly two decades. Due to this long gap, there has been a shortage of officers responsible for monitoring food quality and safety in markets, restaurants, and food production units.

To address this shortage, the government initiated the recruitment process through MPPSC. The commission released the notification and conducted the written examination earlier, and now the recruitment process is moving toward the final stage.

Total Vacancies and Category Distribution

The recruitment aims to fill 123 Food Safety Officer posts across various categories. According to available information, some posts had already been increased earlier due to departmental requirements.

The category-wise distribution includes:

  • General Category: 30 posts

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 17 posts

  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 28 posts

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 38 posts

  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10 posts

These officers will be appointed under the state’s Food Safety Administration Department, which operates under the Food Safety and Standards framework.
