TNPSC Group 2 & 2A Selection Process

The selection process differs slightly between Group II and Group IIA services.

Step 1 – Preliminary Examination

A common Preliminary Examination will be conducted for Group II and Group IIA services.

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible to proceed to the relevant Main Examination.

Step 2 – Main Examination

Separate Main Examinations will be conducted for:

  • Group II Services
  • Group IIA Services
Step 3 – Interview / Final Selection

For Group II posts, the applicable selection process includes the Main Examination followed by the prescribed interview/counselling stage.

For Group IIA posts, selection is based on the applicable Main Examination process without an interview for the posts covered under Group IIA.
