NIC Vacancy 2026
NIC has announced 376 tentative vacancies across three disciplines:
- Computer Sciences & Information Technology – 300 Posts
- Electronics & Communication Engineering – 26 Posts
- Data Science & Artificial Intelligence – 50 Posts
The number of vacancies may increase or decrease as per NIC requirements.
Educational Qualification
For Computer Sciences & Information Technology, candidates should have M.Sc./MS/MCA/B.E./B.Tech. in the prescribed relevant fields along with a valid GATE CS score.
For Electronics & Communication Engineering, a valid GATE EC score is required.
For Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, a valid GATE DA score is required.
The qualifying qualification must be obtained on or before 30 September 2026.
GATE Score Required
Candidates must have a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025 or 2026 in the relevant paper:
- CS – Computer Sciences & IT
- EC – Electronics & Communication Engineering
- DA – Data Science & Artificial Intelligence
There will be no separate written examination or interview.
Age Limit
The age limit will be calculated as on 30 September 2026:
- UR/EWS: 30 Years
- OBC (NCL): 33 Years
- SC/ST: 35 Years
- PwBD: Up to 40 Years, with applicable category-wise relaxation
Other age relaxations will be applicable as per Government rules.
Salary
Selected candidates will receive salary under Level 6 of the 7th CPC, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month, along with applicable Government allowances.

- SC/ST/PwBD/Women: Nil
Candidates applying for more than one discipline have to pay the prescribed fee separately for each discipline.
