The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has released the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 for in-service Primary and Secondary Teachers. This special eligibility examination is being conducted for currently serving teachers who have not previously qualified the TET.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online from 21 August 2026 to 04 September 2026 through the official MPESB website. The examination is scheduled to begin from 12 October 2026.

Who Can Apply for MPESB TET 2026?

The MPESB Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 is only for currently serving/in-service teachers. Fresh candidates who are looking for a new government teaching recruitment are not eligible for this special examination.

Primary Teacher Eligibility Test

In-service primary-level teachers working in government or non-government schools who have not cleared the prescribed TET may apply, subject to the eligibility conditions mentioned in the official rule book.

Eligible categories include teachers such as Assistant Teacher, Primary Teacher, Assistant Adhyapak, Contract School Teacher Class 3, Laboratory Assistant, Primary Teacher Science and Assistant Teacher Science, as applicable under the notification.

Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test

In-service secondary-level teachers working in government or non-government schools who have not cleared TET may apply as per the prescribed conditions.

The eligible categories include Teacher, Secondary Teacher, Adhyapak and Contract School Teacher Class 2, as applicable. Candidates must currently be serving in the post for which they are appearing in the eligibility test.

The examination will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, while the second shift is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Application Fee

The examination fee is ₹1,000 per paper for all categories.

In addition to the examination fee, applicable MP Online portal charges may also be payable:

  • MP Online Kiosk: ₹60/-
  • Registered Citizen Login: ₹20/-

MPESB TET 2026 Exam Pattern

Both Primary and Secondary Teacher Eligibility Tests will be conducted as online Computer Based Tests (CBT).

The examination will consist of 150 marks, with a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. The paper will contain objective-type multiple-choice questions and there will be no negative marking.

Primary Teacher TET

The Primary Teacher Eligibility Test consists of:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy – 30 Marks
  • Language-I – 30 Marks
  • Language-II – 30 Marks
  • Mathematics – 30 Marks
  • Environmental Studies – 30 Marks

Total: 150 Questions / 150 Marks

Secondary Teacher TET

The Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test consists of two parts.

Part A – 30 Marks

  • Language-I – 8 Marks
  • Language-II – 5 Marks
  • General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Reasoning & Numerical Ability – 7 Marks
  • Pedagogy – 10 Marks

Part B – 120 Marks

Candidates have to select one subject from the prescribed subjects, including Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying marks prescribed for the MPESB TET 2026 are:

  • General/Unreserved: 60%
  • SC/ST/OBC/Divyangjan/EWS: 50%

Candidates securing the required minimum marks will be considered qualified as per the applicable rules.

MPESB TET 2026 Syllabus

For the Primary Teacher Eligibility Test, important areas include Child Development & Pedagogy, Languages, Mathematics and Environmental Studies.

For the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test, candidates will be tested in the prescribed language, general knowledge, reasoning, numerical ability, pedagogy and the selected subject. The detailed syllabus should be checked in the official MPESB rule book.

How to Apply for MPESB TET 2026?

Eligible in-service teachers can follow these steps to submit the online application:

  1. Visit the official MPESB website.
  2. Go to the relevant Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 application link.
  3. Read the official rule book and application instructions carefully.
  4. Complete the registration and enter all required personal, academic and service details.
  5. Upload the required photograph, signature and handwriting sample.
  6. Upload the required appointment order and other service-related documents.
  7. Pay the examination fee and applicable portal charges.

  9. Download and save the final application form for future reference.

Applications can be submitted between 21 August 2026 and 04 September 2026. A correction facility will remain available up to 09 September 2026.

Important Note for In-Service Teachers

The MPESB TET 2026 is a special eligibility examination for existing in-service teachers. It should not be confused with a regular teacher recruitment examination.

The eligibility/result obtained through this examination will be applicable to the continued service eligibility of existing in-service teachers and will not be treated as eligibility for future direct recruitment to government teacher posts.

As per the information provided in the notification, certain in-service teachers recruited before the RTE Act and having more than five years of service remaining are required to qualify TET by 31 August 2028, subject to the applicable conditions.
